Yupia, Jul 14: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) on Tuesday donated Rs 5 lakh to support families affected by the recent flash floods in Hoj-Dakte villages under Toru circle of Papum Pare district.
The cheque was handed over to Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering by an NES delegation led by its general secretary Er Nabam Takar at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Yupia.
Handing over the contribution, Er Takar commended the district administration for its prompt response to the disaster and reaffirmed the Society's commitment to standing with the administration and the affected families during times of crisis.
Accepting the donation, the Deputy Commissioner expressed gratitude to the NES for its generous support. He assured that the funds would be utilised transparently and judiciously for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected families in the Hoj-Dakte area.
The delegation included Er Rajesh Dawe, Secretary (Finance); Dr Bengia Tada, Assistant Secretary (Coordination); Er Techi Topu Tara, Secretary (ICR); Nabam Tarin, Secretary (Sports & Youth Affairs); Nabam Jallow, Secretary, Papum Pare District; Dr Akin Tana Tara, Chairman, Papum Pare District; and Heri Aka, Office Secretary.
Earlier, the Nyishi Elite Society had contributed Rs 10 lakh towards relief efforts for flash flood victims in Possa under Keyi Panyor district, reflecting its continued commitment to humanitarian assistance during natural disasters.
