Upper Siang DDMA reviews monsoon preparedness

Dite-Dime-Migging-Tuting road reopens after a month

Yingkiong, Jul 15: The Upper Siang District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Tuesday held a monsoon preparedness review meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, DDMA, Talo Jerang, at the DC Office Conference Hall here to assess the prevailing monsoon situation and strengthen disaster response mechanisms across the district.

The meeting featured a one-to-one interaction with all line departments to review their preparedness and response plans for the ongoing monsoon season.

Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all stakeholders to remain vigilant and maintain a high level of preparedness throughout the monsoon. He stressed the importance of prompt response to emergencies, particularly road blockades along the Dite-Dime-Migging road and the Tuting-Palling-Yingkiong road, to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement and the supply of essential commodities.

Jerang noted that the road is a vital lifeline for residents of Tuting sub-division and adjoining border areas besides being strategically important. He instructed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to restore connectivity at the earliest whenever disruptions occur.

Heads of various line departments, officers from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), including 105 RCC and 761 BRTF, and representatives of road construction companies presented updates on the status of road connectivity, power and water supply, and the availability of essential commodities.

The meeting noted that the Dite-Dime-Migging-Tuting road, which had remained closed for nearly a month due to massive landslides at several locations, was restored and reopened for traffic on July 14, bringing much-needed relief to residents of the Tuting Sub-Division.

Earlier, District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Anie Yangfo welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the review meeting. She underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure effective disaster preparedness and timely response during the monsoon season. (DIPRO)
