AALO, Jul 25: State’s Sports & Youth Affairs, SJETA and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kento Jini on Saturday inaugurated a multi-storey public parking facility near the daily market in Aalo, providing a major boost to urban infrastructure in the district headquarters.
The project, executed by the Department of Urban Affairs, was inaugurated in the presence of West Siang Deputy Commissioner Mindo Loyi, Superintendent of Police Kardak Riba, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Nyali Bagra, and other officials, public representatives and residents.
According to Executive Engineer Helli Welly, the parking facility has the capacity to accommodate 40 light motor vehicles (LMVs) on each floor. At present, it can accommodate 80 vehicles, while the foundation has been designed for a G+5 structure to facilitate future expansion. The project was constructed at a cost of Rs 488.9 lakh and was initiated by local MLA and Minister Kento Jini.
DC Mindo Loyi appealed to the public to maintain the cleanliness of the newly inaugurated facility and described it as a valuable public asset for Aalo township. ZPC Nyali Bagra also urged citizens to make proper use of the facility.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Jini appreciated the Department of Urban Affairs and the contractor for the timely completion and quality execution of the project.
Highlighting the shortage of available land in Aalo township, the Minister said future urban development would focus on vertical infrastructure. He informed that a convention hall of international standards is also being planned within the parking complex and that several more parking facilities are in the pipeline to address the town's growing parking needs.
The Minister reiterated his vision of transforming Aalo into one of the best district headquarters through planned development, beautification and improved civic amenities.
He directed the district administration and the SP to remove abandoned vehicles and construction materials lying along the National Highway within Aalo township and adjoining areas to ensure smooth traffic flow. He also instructed the DC to cancel proposed land allotments near the Inspection Bungalow (IB) and the State Bank of India (SBI) along the highway, stating that these spaces would be reserved for future beautification projects.
Urging public cooperation, Jini appealed to all stakeholders to work together for the planned development and beautification of Aalo township.
