KHONSA, Jul 25: Tirap Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik has called for stronger coordination between banks and government departments to ensure effective implementation of government-sponsored schemes and promote inclusive socio-economic development in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner made the remarks while chairing the District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for the quarters ending March and June 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Khonsa on Friday.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various line departments and financial institutions, including the District Horticulture Officer, District Agriculture Officer, District Veterinary, Dairy & Animal Husbandry Officer, District Fisheries Development Officer, District Planning Officer, Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), branch managers of the State Bank of India (Khonsa and Deomali), ICICI Bank, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), Assistant Director of Textile & Handicrafts, District Adult Education Officer, and other stakeholders.
Addressing the meeting, Tawsik emphasised the need for close coordination between banks and line departments to ensure that government-sponsored schemes reach deserving beneficiaries in a transparent and time-bound manner. He urged all departments to work in convergence with financial institutions to improve credit flow, generate livelihood opportunities, strengthen financial inclusion, and accelerate the overall socio-economic development of Tirap district.
Highlighting the importance of banking outreach in remote areas, the DC directed all banks to organise Financial Literacy Camps (FLCs), particularly in villages along the Indo-Myanmar border and areas covered under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II). He said such initiatives would create greater awareness about banking services, digital banking, social security schemes, and government welfare programmes, thereby strengthening financial inclusion in underserved regions.
He also stressed the need for timely disposal of loan applications, effective implementation of flagship government schemes, regular monitoring of beneficiaries, and wider public awareness of financial assistance programmes. Calling for greater synergy among stakeholders, he urged departments and banks to resolve bottlenecks through mutual coordination and collective efforts to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
During the meeting, NABARD District Development Manager (DDM) Rowncha Wangsu presented a detailed review of the banking sector's performance for the quarters ending March and June 2026. She highlighted achievements under priority sector lending, financial inclusion initiatives, implementation of government-sponsored schemes, and the district's Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio.
Progress made by various departments under developmental and livelihood programmes was also reviewed.
The committee deliberated on issues relating to agricultural credit, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, self-employment, education loans, Self-Help Group (SHG) financing, and the implementation of Central and State government-sponsored schemes. Members also exchanged suggestions to improve banking services, strengthen institutional credit, and enhance coordination among all stakeholders.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from participating departments and financial institutions to strengthen financial services, deepen financial inclusion, and support inclusive and sustainable development across Tirap district. (DIPRO)
