MALIGAON, Jul 26: Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has continued its dedicated efforts to safeguard vulnerable children and passengers across its jurisdiction through sustained vigilance and timely intervention. During the period from 18th to 20th July this year, RPF personnel rescued several minors from different railway stations and trains and ensured their safe handover to the respective Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), Child Help Line and other authorized agencies for proper care and rehabilitation.
Among the recent rescue operations, RPF personnel rescued a 12-year-old boy at New Alipurduar Railway Station on 18th July and handed him over to the Child Welfare Committee, Alipurduar. On 19th July, RPF at New Bongaigaon rescued four minor girls travelling by Train No 22504 and safely handed them over to the Child Welfare Committee, Bongaigaon for further care. On the same day, RPF at Kishanganj rescued a 10-year-old boy from Train No 15910 and handed him over to the Child Help Line, Kishanganj.
RPF personnel at Katihar also rescued a 14-year-old girl from Katihar Railway Station and handed her over to Child Line, Katihar. In another operation, the RPF Train Escort Party rescued a 14-year-old girl travelling in Train No 12505 and coordinated with the local police for her safe custody and further legal action. During the same operation, an 18-year-old youth was also safely reunited with his father.
Further demonstrating its commitment to child protection, RPF personnel at Goalpara rescued a 13-year-old girl from Train No 75724 on 20th July and handed her over to the Child Welfare Committee, Goalpara. At Kamakhya Railway Station, RPF, in coordination with NGO representatives, rescued a 16-year-old girl travelling in Train No 12505 and handed her over to the Railway Child Line, Guwahati for safe custody.
During current year from January to June, 2026, the RPF of NFR has rescued 430 persons including both male and female, from railway stations and trains across the NFR network, highlighting its sustained commitment towards child protection and passenger safety.
Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to ensuring a safe and secure railway environment. The Railway Protection Force continues to work in close coordination with Child Welfare Committees, Child Help Line, NGOs and local authorities to protect children in need of care and assistance and reunite them with their families whenever possible.
