ITANAGAR, Jul 27: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik on Monday interacted with a delegation of the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra, who led by Swami Mitrananda called on him at Lok Bhavan here as part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the Chinmaya Mission.
The Chinmaya Amrit Yatra is a spiritual and cultural initiative launched by the Chinmaya Mission to commemorate 75 years of service to society by spreading the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, Vedanta and India's cultural heritage across the country.
Welcoming the initiative, the Governor lauded the Chinmaya Mission's contribution to spiritual awakening, character building and the preservation of India's civilisational values. He said that in an era of rapid technological and social change, institutions like the Chinmaya Mission play a vital role in nurturing moral values, promoting harmony and strengthening inner resilience.
Highlighting the importance of preserving India's cultural heritage, the Governor said Arunachal Pradesh's rich tribal traditions, indigenous customs and cultural diversity form an integral part of the nation's civilisational legacy. He stressed the need to safeguard these traditions while embracing development and modernisation.
The Governor noted that Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed significant socio-economic progress over the years through improved road, rail and air connectivity, expansion of education and healthcare infrastructure, growth in tourism, horticulture and hydropower, and the implementation of transformative national programmes.
He said flagship initiatives such as the Vibrant Village Programme, Frontier Highway projects, enhanced digital connectivity and investments in renewable energy are creating new opportunities, particularly for people living in remote border areas.
Describing Arunachal Pradesh as a key pillar of India's Act East Policy, the Governor said the state has emerged as a model of inclusive development by balancing economic progress with the preservation of its cultural heritage and natural environment.
Conveying his best wishes on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor expressed confidence that the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra would spread the message of unity, spirituality and selfless service while inspiring citizens to contribute towards nation-building and the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
