Itanagar, Jul 28: In a rare student-friendly gesture, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Tuesday delayed the scheduled departure of the Tinsukia Express by more than 30 minutes, enabling CBSE examination candidates travelling to Gogamukh, Lakhimpur, Harmoti, and Naharlagun to board the train after completing their examinations.
The decision came after the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Tinsukia, promptly responded to a recommendation from Rajya Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh, Tai Tagak, following appeals from concerned parents.
The CBSE Betterment and Compartment Examination was held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at a school located on the outskirts of Tinsukia town. As the examination concluded close to the train's scheduled departure time, many students and their parents feared they would miss the only convenient rail service to their destinations.
Upon receiving the request, MP Tai Tagak immediately took up the matter with the Divisional Railway Manager, who ensured that the train's departure was delayed by over half an hour. The timely intervention allowed all the affected students to reach the railway station and board the train without difficulty.
The gesture was widely appreciated by students and their parents, who described it as an exceptional example of the Indian Railways' sensitivity and responsiveness towards the academic needs of young passengers.
Expressing their gratitude, the parents thanked MP Tai Tagak for his swift intervention and the Northeast Frontier Railway authorities for their humanitarian approach. They said the decision spared the students unnecessary stress after an important examination and reflected a commendable commitment to public service.
The incident has been widely praised as a noteworthy example of effective coordination between a public representative and railway officials to address a genuine public concern promptly, ensuring that students could return home without hardship.
