Bhalukpong, Aug 1: A 56-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room at Sessa, prompting the registration of an FIR and the launch of a police investigation.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Chini Maya Tamang (56). She was found dead in her room at India Hotel on the morning of July 31.
An FIR lodged by her son, Akash Tamang, stated that the incident is suspected to have occurred between 12.30 am and 5 am. Hotel staff reportedly discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood after a housekeeping staff member went to wake her.
The complainant alleged that several valuables, including a gold chain, ring and bracelet, were missing from the room. The steel almirah was also found broken open, raising suspicion of theft in connection with the incident.
Based on the complaint, Bhalukpong Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Police has not yet disclosed the exact cause of death. Further investigation is in progress.
