YINGKIONG, Aug 1: The Sikiing Kojee Charitable Society (SKCS), a prominent NGO of Upper Siang district, organized a programme on Nasha Mukti Yuva for Viksit Bharat, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at the Royal Siang School premises today.
Conducted on the theme ‘Create, Perform and Inspire’, the programme aimed to create awareness among youths about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The event featured a series of vibrant cultural and skit performances, poetry recitations, painting, and poster-making competitions centred on the theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat, encouraging young participants to express their commitment towards a drug-free society through creativity and art.
DIPRO Upper Siang Yalik Jerang, the chief guest, addressing the gathering, highlighted the vision of the Prime Minister to realize a Nasha Mukt Bharat, aligning with the goal of attaining Viksit Bharat 2047, and emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in achieving this national mission. She urged students to stay away from drugs, adopt healthy lifestyles, and become responsible citizens dedicated to nation building.
Describing the younger generation as the nation’s greatest asset, Jerang underscored their vital future role in ensuring peace, progress, and prosperity of the district, the state, and country as a whole. She stressed that quality education, discipline, and strong moral values are the foundations to become a good human being and responsible person. She also administered Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan pledge to all participants.
She also appreciated SKCS Chairperson Dr Mity Jopir Apang and her team for organizing a meaningful programme that provided a platform for young minds to create, perform and inspire through their creative talents while spreading the message of a drug-free society.
Meanwhile, Dr Mity stated that, as part of the campaign, youth enrolment on the designated portal is being carried out in mission mode to ensure maximum participation and outreach across the district. She also reiterated the Society’s commitment to supporting the Government of India’s vision of building a healthy, empowered, and drug-free youth population.
Earlier, P Lama, teacher at Royal Siang School Yingkiong, also sensitized the students about the harmful effects of drugs and urged them to stay away from such unwanted habits and to always focus on good moral values in order to become better individuals in society.
The programme was attended by members of the SKCS, faculty members of Royal Siang School, Jengging and Yingkiong, and a large number of students. (DIPRO)
