ITANAGAR, Aug 1: As part of Guru Poornima celebration at Pasighat, the occasion was marked by felicitation of all indigenous priests (Tabes) of Bogong and Bosing blocks in East Siang district.
At the function was organized by Vivekananda Kendra Arunjyoti Siang Vibhag, about 32 Tabes of the area were felicitated with citations, ‘taapets’ and photo frames.
Retired Director (GoAP) Dr Tayek Talom graced the occasion as chief guest, and Kaling Dai, former ZPC East Siang, attended as guest of honour. Secretary Central Donyi Polo Yelam Kebang Besing Yosung attended as special guest, besides several dignitaries, guests and students also attended the function.
Dr Talom, and Group Captain (Rtd) Mohonto Panging Pao spoke about the importance of preservation of indigenous rituals, customs and traditions of the State.
On their part, the Tabes hailed the organizer for coming up with the event.
Similarly, Tabes of Ruksin block and Mebo block were felicitated in previous years.
It requires a mention here that the Vivekananda Kendra Arunjyoti regularly conducts events promoting indigenous customs and traditions.
