Pasighat, Aug 3: A one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Presentation & Communication Skills" commenced at Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, on Monday.
The programme is being organised by JNC in collaboration with ICT Academy, with support from the DBT STAR College Scheme and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Addressing the inaugural session, Principal Dr Gindu Borang stressed that continuous skill development is essential for both faculty members and students. He urged participants to make the most of the training and apply the knowledge gained to effectively mentor and inspire students.
He observed that in today's rapidly evolving academic environment, embracing technology and continuously upgrading professional skills has become indispensable.
Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang highlighted the significance of the collaboration between JNC and ICT Academy. Referring to the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), he expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen skill development initiatives and enhance placement opportunities for students through industry-oriented training.
Resource person Dr Sunil Borah from ICT Academy said the organisation is committed to strengthening faculty competencies while equipping students with essential 21st-century skills needed to succeed in a competitive world. He also expressed optimism about a long-term and productive collaboration with the college.
Programme Coordinator and Department of Physics faculty member Dr Manish Kumar Shukla said the primary objective of the week-long FDP is to enhance the IT, presentation, and communication skills of faculty members, enabling them to improve teaching-learning practices and positively influence student learning outcomes.
The inaugural programme was attended by IQAC Coordinator Dr DP Panda, DBT STAR College Scheme Coordinator Dr Temin Payum, heads of various departments, and faculty members participating in the training programme.
The week-long FDP aims to strengthen faculty competencies in presentation, communication, and digital skills, ultimately contributing to improved teaching effectiveness and better learning outcomes for students.
