Bomdila, Aug 3: The district-level launch of the Gems of India – National Creators Initiative was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall here on Monday, bringing together Govt officials, media representatives, YouTubers, bloggers, and content creators from across West Kameng district.
Addressing the gathering, in-charge DIPRO Lobom Tamin outlined the objectives of the initiative and addressed participants' queries. He also conducted a detailed demonstration on downloading the My WAVE OTT app, the registration process, video-uploading guidelines, file-size specifications, and the thematic categories under which creators can develop and submit their content.
Appealing participants to spread awareness about the initiative, Tamin urged aspiring creators across the district to seize the opportunity. "West Kameng is one of the richest heritage districts not only in Arunachal Pradesh but also in the country. Through dedicated videos, our creators can bring national recognition to the district while showcasing its unique culture, traditions, tourism potential, and untold stories," he said.
Assistant Commissioner Pooja Sonam described the initiative as a valuable platform for young people to showcase their creativity while promoting the district through digital storytelling. She encouraged participants to document the lesser-known traditions, practices, and cultural heritage of West Kameng, while stressing the importance of producing authentic and original content.
District Tourism Officer Tracy Thongdok highlighted the various themes and subjects that creators can explore for the competition. Among those present were DDSE Dr Ribbom Basar Gamlin, Govt officials, media personnel, YouTubers, bloggers, and content creators from across the district.
The Gems of India – National Creators Initiative, a flagship programme of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India, aims to identify and nurture emerging digital creators from every district of the country. The initiative encourages citizens, especially youth, to produce short-form digital content highlighting local culture, heritage, tourism, traditions, and inspiring stories.
The competition offers cash prizes of Rs 50,000 at the district level, Rs 2 lakh at the state level, and Rs 5 lakh at the national level, providing participants with an opportunity to gain national recognition while showcasing the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of their regions.
