Tawang, Aug 4: In a unique initiative to promote innovation and participatory governance, students of Dorjee Khandu Government College, Tawang, presented their Innovation Challenge Proposals after successfully completing a month-long internship with various government departments during their summer vacation.
The presentation programme, held under the guidance of Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, provided a platform for students to convert their field experiences into practical solutions aimed at improving governance and public service delivery.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner commended the students for their keen observations, analytical approach, and innovative thinking. She said the District Administration had encouraged the college to organise the exercise to help students identify administrative challenges and recommend practical, implementable solutions based on their internship experiences.
Highlighting the importance of youth participation in governance, Angmo announced that the best innovation proposals would be taken up for implementation by the respective departments. She also assured that valuable suggestions from all five presentations would be examined by the District Administration for possible adoption.
Urging the students to become responsible problem-solvers, she encouraged them to develop the habit of critically analysing issues, identifying gaps, and proposing practical solutions to make governance more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric.
The DC appreciated the interns for highlighting key challenges such as infrastructure constraints, manpower shortages, and connectivity issues faced by the departments where they were attached, describing their observations as thoughtful and relevant to improving public service delivery.
As a mark of appreciation, she felicitated all participating students with certificates and traditional khadas in recognition of their efforts and valuable contributions.
Following the programme, the DC visited the under-construction college library building and inspected the surrounding campus to review the progress of infrastructure development.
The initiative reflects the District Administration’s commitment to nurturing young talent, encouraging innovation, and fostering collaborative governance by empowering youth to contribute meaningful ideas for the district’s development. (DIPRO)
