ZIRO, Aug 5: In a gesture of solidarity and compassion, the Ziro Royal Enfielders (ZRE), a motorcycle club based in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district, carried out a humanitarian relief mission for flood-affected families in Assam by donating essential relief materials through the Sukafa Riders Motorcycle Club at Nazira in Sivasagar district.
A Tata Mobile carrying relief supplies departed from Ziro, while an Isuzu truck and two private vehicles transporting additional materials from Itanagar joined the convoy to Sivasagar, ensuring the delivery of much-needed assistance to flood-hit communities.
The mission marked the second phase of ZRE's humanitarian campaign. Collection drives held on July 29 and 30 in Ziro and Itanagar saw volunteers gather new and reusable essential items, including drinking water, phenyl, sanitary pads, clothing, towels, bedsheets, utensils, footwear, undergarments and other daily necessities.
ZRE Chief Nending Ommo said the initiative was inspired by the support extended by the people of Assam to Arunachal Pradesh during the recent flash floods in Keyi Panyor district.
"Nearly half of the donations received during our online relief drive for Keyi Panyor came from individuals and motorcycle clubs in Assam. Their generosity during our difficult time deeply touched us. When Assam was hit by devastating floods, we felt it was our moral responsibility to stand with them. This campaign is our humble expression of gratitude and brotherhood," he said.
ZRE Vice Chief Hage Duyu said the riding fraternity transcends geographical and political boundaries. "Motorcycling has always been about brotherhood. While differences may exist, humanity should always unite us. Through this initiative, we wanted to assure the people of Assam that Arunachal Pradesh stands with them in this difficult time," he said.
General-in-Command Duyu Deilyang said the club chose to personally deliver the relief materials despite difficult road conditions to reaffirm its solidarity with the affected communities. He also acknowledged the contributions of several riding clubs, including Royal Arunachal Riders, Mountain Folks, Eastern Hill Riders, Arunachal Riders Consortium, Arunachal Bullet Club, Decent Souls, and Royal Gorkha Riders, for supporting the campaign.
Ommo said the relief materials were handed over to Sukafa Riders Motorcycle Club because of its active involvement in relief work on the ground and its ability to ensure that the assistance reached the most deserving beneficiaries.
The initiative also received support from noted lady solo rider Monroe Phukan of Sivasagar. The Chief and Secretary of Sukafa Riders, David and Sanjay, thanked Ziro Royal Enfielders for the thoughtful initiative and for strengthening the bond between the riding communities of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
The relief mission highlighted the enduring spirit of the riding fraternity, demonstrating that compassion, unity and humanity transcend borders and differences, especially in times of crisis.
