Ziro, Aug 7: The Lower Subansiri District Administration (DA) on Friday convened a high-level coordination meeting on traffic management in Ziro to improve road safety, streamline traffic movement and address growing congestion in the district.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme, was attended by Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, District Transport Officer (DTO) Remar Gab, representatives of transport unions and members of civil society.
A major focus of the meeting was the regulation of parking and the prevention of road hazards. Expressing concern over accidents caused by indiscriminate roadside parking, the administration directed that commercial heavy vehicles, including dumpers and tractors, should be parked only in designated parking areas.
Addressing the gathering, SP Keni Bagra stressed the need for a solution-oriented approach to traffic management. While appreciating the personnel managing the local Tempo Stand for maintaining orderly operations, he noted that traffic volume in the Ziro valley is expected to increase further in the coming years.
He urged traffic personnel and transport operators to ensure smooth traffic flow while maintaining a tourist-friendly atmosphere, cautioning against any form of harassment of visitors.
Representatives of the All Lower Subansiri Dumper Tippers Truck Welfare Association, Tempo Associations and other stakeholders also participated in the discussions and shared their suggestions on improving traffic regulation in the district.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by DTO Remar Gab, who reaffirmed the district administration's commitment to ensuring safe, efficient and orderly traffic management across Ziro. (DIPRO)
