ITANAGAR, Aug 8: The Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) organised a peaceful rally in Itanagar on Saturday, demanding the scrapping of the existing 80:20 job reservation ratio in the state.
Hundreds of youths, parents and general public participated in the rally, carrying banners and posters with slogans including “Scrap 80:20 Ratio”, “Bhannabazi Nahi Chalega” and “Enough is Enough”.
The rally was taken out from Akashdeep to IG Park, Itanagar.
Addressing the gathering, AFTF chairman Tadak Nalo said the issue could be resolved if the government was willing to take a decision, and criticised the constitution of a committee on the matter as an attempt to delay the issue.
Nalo demanded that the government immediately scrap the 80:20 job reservation ratio. He further demanded that by August 15, recruitment guidelines should make Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) requirements mandatory for recruitment examinations conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).
He said the demands were aimed at safeguarding employment opportunities for indigenous tribal youths of the state. Nalo warned that if the government failed to scrap the existing 80:20 reservation ratio and address the organisation’s demands within the stipulated timeframe, the AFTF would be compelled to decide on its further course of action, holding the Govt responsible for any consequences arising thereafter.
