LIKABALI, Aug 8: The Ramle Banggo Welfare Society, in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and the Department of Forest, Environment & Climate Change (GoAP), distributed essential relief and rescue materials to flood-affected Kakki village today.
The initiative aims to strengthen preparedness for human and wildlife rescue, relief and rehabilitation in the flood-affected area. The relief materials included solar lamps, rechargeable torches with batteries, headlamps, life-saving jackets, snake rescue kits, ponchos (sleeve free outer wear) and other essential rescue equipment.
The materials were sponsored by the Foundation Segre, WTI, and the DoFECC (GoAP).
The distribution team was led by Murter Kakki, general secretary RBWS, along with Dr Panjit Basumatary, Senior Manager WTI, Nyaken Zirdo and T Kaman, Foresters, D Ering Wildlife Sanctuary, Pasighat.
Speaking on the occasion, the team emphasized the importance of community preparedness and coordinated response mechanisms in flood-affected areas, particularly where human settlements and wildlife habitats are closely interconnected.
The initiative reflects the collective efforts of community organizations, wildlife conservation agencies and the Forest Dept towards ensuring the safety, rescue and rehabilitation of both people and wildlife affected by natural calamities. (DIPRO)
