ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The fifth edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign 2026 began across Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, with Tiranga rallies, patriotic programmes and public participation organised in several districts to promote national unity, patriotism and pride in the National Flag.
In West Kameng, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and commemoration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ were launched at Bomdila with a Tiranga Pad Yatra led by Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar.
The yatra began from Bomdila Market and culminated at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, with administrative officers, heads of departments, officials, SSB personnel, members of the business community, students and the general public participating.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of the campaign and urged citizens to proudly hoist the National Flag at their homes, shops and offices from August 9 to 17.
He said a series of activities, including a bike rally, mass rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ and an essay competition, would also be organised as part of the campaign. He called upon citizens to participate wholeheartedly and use the occasion to strengthen patriotism and honour the nation’s heritage and sacrifices.
Tiranga Bullet Rally in Tirap
In Tirap, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta led a Tiranga Abhiyan Bullet Rally after it was flagged off at Khonsa by Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin.
The rally was jointly organised by the Tirap District Administration and the AR-13 Tirap Riders and Jaro Riders teams. A total of 24 riders, 12 from each team, participated in the rally led by Kampong Mongwang and Wangnan Bo.
The rally commenced from the Tini-Ali Old Petrol Pump point, covered around 20 km and concluded at Lamsa village. The Chief Secretary, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and other officials, participated up to Lamsa before proceeding to Changlang district.
Gupta called upon the people of Tirap to participate enthusiastically in the campaign and ensure that the Tricolour is proudly displayed at every home.
MLA Wanglam Sawin also urged citizens to participate wholeheartedly and draw inspiration from the National Flag to uphold the ideals of the nation and contribute towards building a strong, united and developed India.
In Upper Siang, the District Administration launched the campaign at the General Ground, Yingkiong, where Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang flagged off a Tiranga Pad Yatra.
Govt officials, police personnel, teachers and students of VKV Yingkiong and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya, PRI representatives, public leaders, members of APWWS and local BJP unit, and the general public participated in the event.
The Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to take pride in being Indians and contribute towards peace, unity and development. He said every citizen, irrespective of position or status, has a role in nation-building.
Highlighting Upper Siang’s strategic importance as a border district, the Jerang urged residents of remote border villages to proudly hoist the National Flag as an expression of patriotism and commitment to the unity and integrity of the country.
The programme featured a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ by students of NSCBAV, followed by a colourful Tiranga Path Yatra through Yingkiong township.
In Namsai, the fifth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched at the District Secretariat. District Art and Culture Officer Milingta Namchoom highlighted the significance of the campaign and urged citizens to participate in the activities being organised under the initiative.
Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering stressed the importance of respecting the dignity of the National Flag. He clarified that the Tricolour should not be displayed on private vehicles and that its display on vehicles is permitted only in accordance with applicable provisions, including on authorised government vehicles.
He appealed to government employees, students, youth, community organisations and the general public to participate enthusiastically and make the campaign a people’s movement.
Citizens have also been encouraged to participate in the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ initiative and share their participation through the official Har Ghar Tiranga platform using #HarGharTiranga and #HGT2026.
The campaign, being observed from August 9 to 17, is dedicated to the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’ and encourages citizens to participate in Tiranga Yatras, rallies and patriotic programmes while reinforcing the values of patriotism, unity and national pride.
The programmes across the districts reflected widespread public participation in the campaign and its objective of strengthening citizens’ emotional connection with the National Flag and the spirit of nation-building.
