Itanagar, Aug 10: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Monday stressed the importance of discipline, physical fitness, character-building and academic excellence in shaping the future of cadets at Sainik Schools.
The Governor made the observation during a meeting with the Principal of Sainik School East Siang, Pasighat, Col Anant Thapan, who called on him at Lok Bhavan here.
Thapan briefed the Governor on the school’s academic performance, co-curricular activities, infrastructure development, future plans and the challenges being faced by the institution.
Parnaik said Sainik Schools have an important role in preparing disciplined, responsible and patriotic citizens and have contributed significantly to nation-building by grooming young people for leadership roles in the Armed Forces as well as other areas of public service.
He advised the Principal to ensure that the school continues to provide a balanced learning environment, with equal emphasis on academics, physical development, discipline, character and extracurricular activities.
The Governor also stressed the need to maintain the school campus to the highest standards, saying a clean, well-maintained and vibrant environment contributes to students’ personality development and encourages them to pursue excellence.
During the interaction, the Principal apprised the Governor of several infrastructure-related challenges faced by the institution, including incomplete works, frequent power outages and erosion of a portion of the school premises caused by excessive flooding.
Thapan said the issues had been taken up with the concerned authorities.
The Governor assured him that the matters would be taken up with the State Government for necessary intervention to facilitate the smooth functioning and further development of Sainik School East Siang.
Thapan assured the Governor that the institution would continue its efforts to provide quality education and comprehensive development opportunities to its cadets and prepare them to become confident, capable and responsible citizens committed to serving the nation.
