YUPIA, Aug 10: A day-long Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination programme was organized at Deb village under Sagalee circle in Papum Pare district, in which around 50 Mithuns were vaccinated.
Organized in collaboration with the KT Foundation, the initiative aimed at strengthening livestock health and preventing the spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease among Mithuns in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Papum Pare District Veterinary Officer Dr Takio Taram Tarh appreciated the KT Foundation for taking the initiative and assured the Foundation Chairman RK Taj of the department’s full cooperation, particularly in terms of the supply of medicines and vaccines.
The DVO also urged Mithun owners to extend their cooperation to the Veterinary Department during vaccination drives and ensure that their animals are duly vaccinated. He emphasized that active participation from livestock owners is essential to achieve the goal of making the region FMD-free by 2030.
The programme was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen animal disease prevention and promote healthier livestock practices in the district. (DIPRO)
