Itanagar, Aug 11: The Banderdewa Police has arrested a 32-year-old man and seized 6.15 grams of suspected heroin during an operation at Banderdewa, police said on Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Durna Baruah alias Monu, a resident of Shantipur, Majgoan, under Laluk police station in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.
According to police, Baruah was intercepted and apprehended at around 3:10 pm on August 9, Sunday. The operation was carried out by a police team led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station, along with SI Koj Tada, SI Nani Bagang, ASI SK Tiwari, ASI RN Tagore and head constable Tade Bomdom.
During the search, police recovered 6.15 grams of suspected heroin, allegedly wrapped in a polythene packet and contained in five vials.
A case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been arrested in connection with the case.
