ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) has announced a road blockade and economic blockade against Arunachal Pradesh from 5 am on August 12, in protest against the violent incident reported at Hime village on Monday.
In a statement issued on Monday, the TMPK strongly condemned the incident, stating that it had seriously endangered the safety and security of people from Assam living and working in the border areas.
The organisation demanded the immediate identification and arrest of all persons allegedly responsible for the violence, particularly those who opened fire, and called for their prosecution in accordance with the law.
It further demanded appropriate legal and departmental action against any Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel found to have been involved in the incident.
Announcing the blockade in view of what it termed the “gravity of the situation”, the organisation said the proposed agitation was a democratic and peaceful movement seeking justice, security and accountability.
The TMPK clarified that the blockade was not directed against any particular community or the ordinary people of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to the organisation, the road and economic blockade would continue until all those responsible for the incident, including those who allegedly opened fire, are identified, arrested and brought to justice.
The TMPK also called upon the concerned authorities to take “concrete and decisive action” to address the situation.
