Itanagar, Aug 12: Home Minister Mama Natung on Wednesday inaugurated the new Fire & Emergency Services Station at Seppa in East Kameng district, marking a significant step towards strengthening emergency response and fire-safety preparedness in the district.
The inauguration was attended by Seppa East MLA Ealing Tallang, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Pai Pizi Yangfo, DGP S D Singh Jamwal, Director Fire & Emergency Services-cum-IG (Training & Operations) Apur Bitin, public representatives, Panchayat leaders and officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Police, Home Guards and Civil Defence.
Speaking on the occasion, Natung highlighted the importance of strengthening emergency-response infrastructure to ensure prompt action during fire incidents and other emergencies. The new station is expected to enable faster response and help protect lives and property in and around Seppa.
A live fire-safety demonstration was also conducted, showcasing procedures for handling LPG leaks and oil fires. The demonstration emphasised the importance of practical fire-safety awareness and timely intervention in preventing accidents and saving lives.
During the programme, Natung also launched the “SAATAM” Night Patrolling App of East Kameng Police and the NDPS Handbook for Investigating Officers.
The SAATAM app is aimed at strengthening night patrolling, improving field coordination and enhancing police responsiveness. The NDPS Handbook will provide investigating officers with practical guidance for more systematic and effective investigation of narcotics-related cases.
Natung appreciated the efforts of East Kameng Police and all officers involved in the initiatives, stating that the measures reflected the government’s commitment to stronger policing, technology-driven policing and a safer Arunachal Pradesh.
