RGU holds maiden meeting of TOLIC, Papum Pare district

RONO HILLS, Aug 13: In a first, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) hosted a meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Papum Pare district today, which brought together representatives of the 100 enrolled Central Government offices under TOLIC Papum Pare for a collective review of the implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Government of India.

Attended by Dr N T Rikam, Registrar RGU, along with senior officials & representatives of participating Central Government offices, the meeting saw Dr Gumpi Nguso, Hindi Officer-cum-Member Secretary (TOLIC) deliver a detailed PPT presentation on the programmes, policies and provisions relating to the Official Language applicable to Central Government institutions.

She also presented an overview of the performance of various member offices located in different parts of Arunachal Pradesh with regard to the implementation and progressive use of Hindi in official work.

Addressing the gathering, RGU Vice Chancellor Dr Shivaraj emphasized the importance of collective efforts by Central Government offices towards the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy. He stated that, in accordance with the Official Language Rules of the Government of India, all Central Government offices should collectively strive for the progressive use of official language Hindi in their official communication and administrative functioning.

Dr Rajiv Kumar Nayak, Dy Director, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, explained the provisions & practical aspects of the Official Language Rules. He also reviewed the quarterly progress reports submitted by the participating institutions & highlighted areas requiring further attention to strengthen the implementation of the Official Language Policy.

Further, the deliberations focused on improving compliance with the Official Language Rules & strengthening the quality and regularity of Hindi usage in official communication.
