State Awards 2026 honour 23 individuals, organisations for distinguished service

ITANAGAR, Aug 16: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Manish Kumar on Saturday announced the State Awards for 2026 on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, recognising 23 individuals and organisations for distinguished service and notable contributions to the state.

The awards comprise two Gold Medals, five Silver Medals and 16 Commendation Certificates, honouring exemplary dedication, public service and contributions that have made a meaningful difference to the people and development of Arunachal Pradesh.

Announcing the awards, the Chief Secretary said the honours recognise individuals and institutions whose commitment and dedicated efforts have contributed significantly to public service and the welfare of the state.

Among the top honours, the Gold Medal has been conferred on the Swachh Silluk Abhiyan of Silluk village in East Siang district, and Sub-Inspector Tamo Bakhang, Police Station, Chimpu, Itanagar.

The Silver Medal category includes Nangram Pingkap, APCS; District Library, Namsai; Er Tei Taba; Gemo Jini; and Lijum Ete, APCS.

Sixteen individuals have been awarded Commendation Certificates for their distinguished contributions. They are Taku Ropuk, Koli Hali, Gyamar Niakum, Horda Lona, Yamo Tamut, APCS, Kashi Nath Upadhyay, Dr Ani Siram, Captain (Dr) Chirag Singhal, Maga Tago, APPS, Karrnar Kamki, Samir Pradhan, Pradeep Mandal, Ashok Singh, Tahong Taga, Lobom Tamin and Poosam Tangha, IFS.

CM’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration

The State Government has also nominated three institutions for the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2026.

The nominated institutions are the Department of Planning & Investment, West Kameng district; Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), Department of Health & Family Welfare; and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Pakke Kessang.

The nominations recognise exemplary work in innovative public service delivery, effective implementation of national programmes and successful inter-State boundary demarcation.

The Department of Planning & Investment, West Kameng, APSACS and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Pakke Kessang have been recognised for demonstrating institutional commitment towards improving governance and delivering services more effectively.

The recognition of grassroots initiatives alongside public servants and government institutions underscores the State Government's emphasis on dedicated public service, innovation, community participation and effective governance in building a more responsive and progressive Arunachal Pradesh.
