10-day training Program in Panchkarma therapy launched in LDV

ROING, Aug 17: The Arogya Panchkarma and Wellness Centre, RIWATCH, today launched a 10-day training program in Panchkarma Therapy at its campus here in Lower Dibang Valley district.

The program brings together aspiring therapists and members of the public for an immersive, hands-on learning experience in one of Ayurveda’s most respected therapeutic disciplines.

Over the 10-day period, participants will receive structured training in a wide range of classical Panchkarma procedures, including Nasya (nasal administration of medicated substances), Shiropichu (application of medicated oil to the scalp), Shirodhara (continuous pouring of medicated liquids over the forehead), Tunu Basti (localized oil retention therapy), Steam Bath (herbal steam therapy), Pottali Therapy (therapeutic massage using medicated herbal boluses), Pizhichil (synchronized oil-pouring and massage therapy), and Greeva Basti (localized oil retention therapy for the neck region).

The training has been designed with two core objectives in mind: first, to spread awareness among the general public about the therapeutic benefits and holistic value of Panchkarma therapy; and second, to train interested male and female therapists in the practical techniques, procedures, and clinical nuances of Panchkarma therapy, equipping them with hands-on professional competence.

The program has drawn strong interest, with around 40 participants taking part — a mix of aspiring therapists undergoing training and individuals participating as patients to personally experience the free therapy sessions. This dual-track structure allows trainees to practise their emerging skills under supervision while giving participants a firsthand understanding of Panchkarma's therapeutic effects.

Speaking at the launch session, Dr Techi Yumyi outlined the foundational principles governing any Ayurvedic therapeutic procedure, explaining that treatment classically follows a three-stage sequence: Purvakarma (preparatory procedures), Pradhana Karma (the main therapeutic procedure), and Paschat Karma (post-therapy care and follow-up).

She emphasized that the 10-day program has been structured around this framework, with a strong focus on hands-on training, practical skill-building and in-depth knowledge of each therapy’s application and benefits.
