MALIGAON, Aug 17: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken comprehensive infrastructure upgradation of “Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon” with a focus on providing students with modern, safe and improved educational facilities. As part of the initiative, a new G+1 RCC building with 20 classrooms and modern classroom furniture has been constructed, significantly enhancing the school’s academic infrastructure.
The upgradation works also include construction of a covered Prayer Shed, renovation and modernization of the Subir Raha Memorial Auditorium. The facade of the school building has also been enhanced along with a new canopy and exterior painting, giving the institution a modern and improved appearance. Further, improvements have also been made in the approach road, existing office and classrooms, drainage system etc.
Netaji Vidyapith Railway HSS was established on 23rd January, 1948 in honour of the legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. Over the years, the institution has produced several distinguished alumni, including Dr Paritosh Kansa Banik, former Director of NIT, Silchar; Dr Jayashree Bhattacharjee, former Principal of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Hospital, New Delhi; and Rajib Dhar, FIDE-rated chess player. The institution, run by Northeast Frontier Railway, continues its legacy of nurturing students and empowering them to achieve excellence and become the best version of themselves.
The renovated Subir Raha Memorial Auditorium, newly constructed classrooms, new Prayer Shed and upgraded facade were inaugurated by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager NF Railway, on 15th August, 2026. The comprehensive upgradation reflects NFR’s continued commitment towards strengthening educational infrastructure and creating a better learning environment for students.
