SEPPA, Aug 19: A District-Level Steering Committee meeting on the Lakhpati Didi initiative was held at the Abo Tani Conference Hall, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Kameng, to review the progress of the programme and strategise for achieving the district’s target for the financial year 2025-26.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Yashaswini B and attended by Heads of Departments (HoDs), Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), officials and other stakeholders.
District Mission Manager, DMMU, Seppa, Khyoda Rajan, made a detailed presentation on the objectives, progress, eligibility criteria, key indicators, implementation strategies and responsibilities of stakeholders under the Lakhpati Didi initiative.
East Kameng has been assigned a target of 1,346 Lakhpati Didis for FY 2025-26. The meeting stressed the need for stronger convergence among Govt departments to enable Self Help Groups (SHGs) and their members to access schemes and programmes relating to livelihood promotion, skill development, enterprise development, credit, infrastructure, market linkages and other income-generating activities.
The Deputy Commissioner called upon all HoDs, elected representatives and implementing agencies to adopt a coordinated, result-oriented and time-bound approach to achieve the target. She emphasised that effective convergence and timely delivery of Govt schemes would be crucial for enhancing household incomes and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to strengthen inter-departmental convergence and extend necessary support to SHGs and their members to achieve the target of 1,346 Lakhpati Didis in East Kameng and promote sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic empowerment of rural women.
