Reforms must be practical, people-centric & future-ready: Guv

ITANAGAR, Aug 21: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik on Friday emphasised the need for practical, people-centric and future-ready administrative reforms to ensure responsive, transparent and accountable governance across Arunachal Pradesh.

Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Administrative Reforms Commission, Pramod Jain, called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan here and discussed ongoing and proposed reforms aimed at improving the quality, efficiency and last-mile delivery of public services.

The Governor stressed that administrative reforms should be guided by the aspirations of the people, with particular focus on inclusive development and ensuring effective governance even in the State’s remotest rural and border areas.

He called for greater emphasis on participatory and decentralised governance, transparency, accountability, digitalisation, timely service delivery and outcome-oriented administration. Strengthening grassroots institutions, he said, would help ensure greater community participation in decision-making and more effective delivery of development benefits.

Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s unique geographical and socio-cultural characteristics, the Governor said the State’s vast mountainous terrain, scattered settlements, rich tribal and cultural diversity and sensitive international borders require an administrative system that is efficient, agile and responsive to local realities.

He also underlined the importance of technology and data-driven governance to overcome geographical challenges and improve citizens’ access to public services.

The meeting reviewed measures to strengthen public trust, improve administrative efficiency and make governance more responsive to the changing needs and aspirations of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
