TATO, Aug 21: Tato in Shi-Yomi district has got a DUDA (District Urban Development Agency) Market, with Shi-Yomi ZPC Tanya Rinya inaugurating the newly established civic infrastructure today.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Manjunath R, Deputy Commissioner Shi-Yomi, along with district officials, Market representatives and members of the public.
The DUDA Market is an important addition to the civic infrastructure of Tato, providing a dedicated and organized marketplace for fish, poultry and meat. The facility is aimed at providing a cleaner, more hygienic and functional space for vendors and consumers while strengthening the basic market infrastructure of the town.
The operationalisation of the market has been facilitated through concerted efforts of the Department of Urban Development & Housing through the DUDA. In order to make the facility fully functional and accessible, necessary supporting infrastructure has also been put in place, including construction of concrete steps, provision of water-line connectivity and making available dedicated parking space.
These interventions, though basic in nature, are important components of functional urban infrastructure and reflect the district administration’s focus on ensuring that public assets are not merely created but are made operational and usable for the community.
The establishment of the DUDA Market also represents an important step towards the planned and systematic development of Tato. With the town witnessing gradual growth in population and economic activity, properly designated commercial spaces and supporting civic infrastructure are essential for ensuring orderly and sustainable urban growth.
The dedicated market will help organise meat, poultry and fish-related commercial activities within a designated space thereby promoting better hygiene, sanitation, traffic management and public convenience. It is also expected to contribute to the overall beautification and orderly appearance of Tato by reducing the need for unregulated roadside vending.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of developing infrastructure in a planned and need-based manner, keeping in view both the present requirements and the future growth of Tato. The operationalisation of facilities such as the DUDA Market is part of a broader approach towards creating a town with better civic amenities, organized commercial activity and improved public spaces.
The development also underscores the importance of convergence between departmental efforts and local administration in translating infrastructure projects into functional public facilities.
The efforts of the UD&H Dept through DUDA, along with the support of the district administration and local stakeholders, have enabled the market to become a usable community asset. (DIPRO)
