YUPIA, Aug 22: A District Level Steering Committee meeting on the Lakhpati Didi Initiative under Papum Pare district was held at the DC Conference Hall here on Thursday. Organised by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), the meeting reviewed the implementation of the initiative and discussed measures to strengthen convergence among various stakeholders.
The meeting was chaired by Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage and attended by Assistant Commissioner Bengia Yakar, Zilla Parishad Members from Doimukh and Borum, heads of various line departments, the Lead District Manager, SBI, and ArSRLM officials from different blocks of the district.
During the meeting, the District Mission Manager, ArSRLM, outlined the objectives and significance of the Lakhpati Didi Initiative and stressed the importance of effective functioning of the District Level Steering Committee for its successful implementation. A detailed presentation was also made on the targets and achievements of ArSRLM during the financial years 2025–26 and 2026–27, with emphasis on strengthening Self Help Groups (SHGs) and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women.
Addressing the meeting, DC Mamu Hage appreciated the efforts of ArSRLM and highlighted the importance of the initiative, being promoted by the Ministry of Rural Development, in advancing the economic empowerment of rural women.
She directed all line departments to work in convergence mode and ensure that eligible SHGs are able to access relevant government schemes, programmes and interventions. She also called for focused and time-bound efforts to achieve the targets assigned to Papum Pare district.
The DC emphasised that coordinated efforts among line departments, financial institutions and field-level functionaries would be crucial in enabling SHG members to increase their household incomes and attain Lakhpati Didi status. She called upon officials to identify potential beneficiaries, provide timely institutional and financial support, and ensure effective handholding of SHG members at the grassroots level.
A key highlight of the meeting was the felicitation of Lakhpati Didis with certificates in recognition of their achievement. A Lakhpati Didi from Borum block also shared her success story, highlighting her journey and the positive impact of SHG-based livelihood interventions and institutional support. Her experience inspired other SHG members and demonstrated the potential of sustainable livelihood activities to improve the economic well-being of rural women.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen inter-departmental convergence, enhance stakeholder participation and undertake focused interventions to accelerate the creation of more Lakhpati Didis in Papum Pare district. (DIPRO)
