PALIN, Aug 26: A week-long Rest and Recuperation (R&R) Programme, organized by the Kra Daadi District Police, concluded today on a successful note, dotting first-of-its-kind welfare initiative in the district under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Sepraj Perme.
The programme aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of police personnel, boost morale, strengthen camaraderie, and provide personnel an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate beyond their routine duties. It also sought to strengthen the bond between the police, their families and the community.
A variety of sporting, cultural and recreational activities were organized throughout the week, including an intra-departmental football tournament, singing, dancing and other talent-based events.
The Kra Daadi District Police Idol – Season 1, “Showcase Your Talent” provided police personnel with a platform to showcase their singing and artistic abilities. Jenlong Wottey emerged as the winner, Bengia Tabe as the 1st runner-up, and Tama Natam as the 2nd runner-up.
The football tournament also witnessed enthusiastic participation, with Daadi Guardian emerging as the Champion, Kra United FC as the runner-up, and Tali Wolves securing the 2nd runner-up position. The individual football awards were bagged by Ct Wassey Wangno, who was adjudged best player; Ct Tage Buda, who was awarded best goalkeeper; and Ct Pinto Tabyo, who emerged as the highest scorer.
The programme also witnessed the participation of families of police personnel and members of the public, making it an inclusive and community-oriented initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that while people often associate the police with fear and authority, there is a human side to every police personnel. He emphasized that behind the uniform is a person with a soft corner, a welcoming nature and a kind and compassionate heart. He said that initiatives such as the R&R Programme provide an opportunity for police personnel to come out of their routine roles, connect with people in a relaxed environment and strengthen mutual trust between the police and the community.
The programme culminated today, with Kra Daadi Deputy Commissioner Higio Yame gracing the valedictory ceremony as a chief guest. She appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of police welfare, team spirit and maintaining a healthy relationship between the police and the community.
