NAHARLAGUN, Aug 28: A fire broke out in the housekeeping clothes storeroom on the third floor of Hotel Dashang at Barapani here on Friday morning, damaging clothes, the false ceiling, electrical appliances, furniture and other items.
According to Naharlagun Fire Station, the fire was reported at around 8:55 am, following which fire tenders were dispatched. The first firefighting team reached the hotel at around 9 am.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Naharlagun, Itanagar and Yupia took part in the operation, with 28 personnel engaged in bringing the blaze under control. The team also evacuated 10 guests and hotel staff from the building as a precautionary measure.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire was stated to be uncertain. The firefighting operation continued for around two hours and 10 minutes. A total of six fire tenders and one fire carrier vehicle were deployed, while 16 water tanks were used during the operation.
The fire was brought under control with coordinated efforts by the Naharlagun Fire Station team and fire teams from Itanagar and Yupia. The personnel left the site at around 11:15 am and returned to the station at approximately 11:30 am.
