RUKSIN, Aug 28: The Ledum Yameng Bane Kebang (LYBK) has urged Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao to intervene in the long-pending issue of poor and unreliable BSNL mobile network services in Ledum village.
A LYBK delegation, led by its president Onong Dupak and secretary Tayem Taloh, met Gao at his Ruksin residence on Friday and apprised him of the difficulties faced by residents due to the non-functional and unstable BSNL network.
The delegation said reliable mobile connectivity has become essential for communication, education, healthcare, business, emergency services and other day-to-day activities. However, despite being one of the major villages under the Pasighat West Assembly Constituency, Ledum continues to face extremely poor mobile connectivity.
According to the LYBK, a BSNL mobile tower was installed in the village around 15 years ago, but its services have remained largely unsatisfactory. The network frequently becomes unavailable and calls often get disconnected within seconds even when connectivity is available.
The organisation said the unreliable service has caused considerable inconvenience to residents, particularly students, youths, senior citizens, government employees and people requiring urgent communication.
The LYBK further stated that the issue had been raised with the concerned authorities several times, but no concrete and lasting measures had been taken to improve connectivity, resulting in growing frustration among villagers.
It also highlighted difficulties in accessing online government services, attending online classes, making emergency calls, conducting digital transactions and maintaining regular contact with family members and relatives.
The organisation urged the MP to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and ensure that the existing BSNL infrastructure is repaired, upgraded and made fully functional. It also sought installation of mobile towers of other service providers, including Airtel and Jio, to provide reliable and competitive connectivity.
The LYBK emphasised that the people of Ledum should not remain deprived of dependable communication facilities when mobile connectivity has become an indispensable part of modern life.
After hearing the grievances, Gao assured the delegation that he would take appropriate steps and raise the matter with the concerned authorities for the convenience and benefit of the people of Ledum.
