NAMSAI, Sep 2: Namsai Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering on Wednesday inaugurated the office-cum-micro finance counter of Mabira Large Sized Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd (Mabira LAMPS) at 2 Mile, Namsai, and launched its logo.
The inauguration was followed by an orientation programme at the PWD Conference Hall, Namsai, attended by officials, dignitaries, members of the provisional committee, shareholders, members and other stakeholders.
Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies (DRCS) Gyati Kobing, in his keynote address, highlighted the importance of cooperative institutions in promoting collective participation, financial inclusion and sustainable socio-economic development at the grassroots level. He also briefed the participants on various initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, Govt of India, and their implementation in Arunachal Pradesh.
Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS), Namsai, C P Manno presented a report on Mabira LAMPS and its activities and explained the principles, ideology and ethics of the cooperative movement.
Representatives of various departments and institutions, including the ADO, DHO, DT&HO, ArSLM, SBI and Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd, also addressed the gathering and highlighted institutional support and opportunities for strengthening rural livelihoods and community-based economic activities.
Addressing the programme, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the significant contribution of early cooperators to the development of the state, particularly in rural areas. He referred to the role of cooperatives in public distribution of essential commodities and cooperative banking, besides their growing presence across diverse socio-economic sectors.
He urged the members to actively participate in the functioning of the cooperative and uphold transparency, accountability and collective responsibility to build a strong and sustainable institution.
An orientation session was subsequently conducted by C P Manno and Gyati Kobing, focusing on the functioning of cooperative societies, members’ and shareholders’ responsibilities, financial management, institutional mechanisms and the role of the Board of Directors.
The resource persons also briefed participants on various initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation and opportunities available for strengthening cooperative activities.
