Itanagar, Sep 4: The Naharlagun Police has recovered 23 stolen LPG cylinders following a series of thefts reported in the Naharlagun area and arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the case.
A case was registered at Naharlagun Police Station vide NLG PS Case No. 114/2026 under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following reports of LPG cylinder thefts.
According to Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega, based on investigation and analysis of the pattern of the thefts, police identified the suspected accused as Arjun Juga (30), a resident of IG Park Colony, Gate No. 1, Itanagar. He was arrested from Juli Road on September 3, police said.
Following his arrest, police conducted raids at different locations and recovered 23 stolen LPG cylinders.
The operation was conducted by a team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, comprising SI Niri Rama, head constable T Koch, constables Sanu Raj T, Tadar Anik and lady constable G Yachu, under the supervision of Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun.
Meanwhile, SP Dr Nyelam Nega appealed to residents to remain vigilant and keep a watch over their neighbourhoods, particularly on unattended houses and properties. He cautioned that habitual offenders often target unattended houses, break open locks and commit thefts, and urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the police.
