TAWANG, Sep 4: The 4th District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting of Tawang district was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Friday to review the progress and implementation of various developmental schemes and programmes.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, and attended by Executive Engineers and their representatives, Heads of Offices and officials from various departments.
The meeting reviewed the progress, achievements and implementation status of flagship programmes, Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), State-funded schemes, MLA Local Area Development Scheme (MLALADS), Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), Untied Fund and other developmental programmes being implemented in the district.
The meeting began with a welcome address by Assistant Commissioner-cum-Deputy Director, Rural Development, Tenzin Jambey.
Addressing the officers, DC Namgyal Angmo stressed that creation of public infrastructure should not be viewed merely as execution of works or a means of generating profit for contractors. She emphasised that every project must fulfil its intended purpose and deliver tangible and lasting benefits to the people.
During the department-wise review, the DC took stock of the physical and financial progress of various schemes and ongoing works. She directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to accelerate implementation and make optimum use of the available working season, while ensuring that quality is not compromised.
She also stressed the need for regular field inspections and site visits by officers, stating that first-hand assessment of works is essential to verify actual progress and quality and to facilitate timely resolution of issues arising during implementation.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of e-KYC updation of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The DC appreciated the efforts of Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers in improving e-KYC coverage and expressed hope that the coverage would improve further before the next DLMC meeting.
The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned departments to maintain close coordination, strengthen field-level monitoring and ensure timely and quality implementation of developmental schemes so that the intended benefits effectively reach the people. (DIPRO)
