ITANAGAR, Sep 5: Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Ward No. 11 Corporator Gora Lotak has launched a nine-point rules and guidelines aimed at improving cleanliness, public order and environmental management in the ward.
The initiative, launched as part of the ‘Ghar Ghar Safai Abhiyan’, calls upon every household to maintain cleanliness in and around their premises and ensure proper disposal of waste. Non-compliance will attract penalties, Lotak said.
Ward 11 recently won the first edition of the IMC Cleanliness League 2026, securing the championship trophy and Rs 5 lakh cash prize. Lotak attributed the achievement to the active participation of residents and local communities.
Under the new guidelines, shops in the ward will operate from 6 am to 10 pm. Residents have also been urged to support efforts to make the ward drug-free.
The guidelines prohibit illegal encroachment of public property, unauthorised earth-cutting and roadside dumping of construction materials. Action, including fines and legal proceedings, will be initiated against violators.
Lotak also urged residents to park vehicles only at designated spaces, warning that illegal parking on colony and sector roads would invite penalties.
The guidelines further call for the removal of bamboo plantations from identified areas and measures to prevent stray dogs from roaming freely, with owners potentially held responsible in case of accidents.
Residents have been asked to segregate waste and hand it over to designated IMC garbage collection vehicles. They have also been encouraged to participate in mass community cleanliness drives every Saturday.
Lotak said the objective is to make cleanliness a daily habit and create a hygienic, environmentally friendly and disease-free environment in Ward 11.
