YUPIA, Sep 5: Education Department, Papum Pare district, felicitated 16 teachers for their dedicated and exemplary service on the occasion of Teachers’ Day at Hakum Happa Hall, NSCBAV, Yupia today.
The programme, organized on a district-wide scale, was attended by Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek, and Prof Nani Bath, HoD Political Science, Rajiv Gandhi University, along with education officials, representatives of the Arunachal Teachers’ Association and teachers from across the district.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA appreciated DDSE T T Tara and the organizing team for conducting the mega celebration, which, he described as the first-of-its-kind initiative in the district.
Describing teaching as one of the noblest professions, the MLA said that the success of a teacher should not be measured merely by the academic achievements of students, but also by the values, character and sense of responsibility they develop. He observed that even if a single student emerges as a successful and responsible individual with sound character, it is a significant achievement for the teacher.
Vivek called upon teachers to strive for excellence, dedication and integrity in discharge of their duties. He also urged them to actively contribute to the socio-cultural development of society and participate constructively in public and political affairs with the objective of bringing about a positive impact in the community.
Prof Bath, in his address, called upon teachers to be sincere to themselves, to the subjects they teach, to their students and to society. He emphasized that the responsibility of a teacher extends beyond academic instruction and includes attending to the psychological and emotional well-being of students and, wherever possible, supporting those facing personal or financial difficulties.
Citing instances where a simple act of kindness by a teacher had made a lasting difference in a student’s life, Prof Bath urged teachers to closely monitor the mental, emotional and overall development of their students.
The DDSE and R K Rob, president of the District Unit of the Arunachal Teachers’ Association, highlighted the important role of teachers in strengthening the education system and shaping the future of the younger generation.
Adding a student’s perspective to the celebration, Chukhu Namchum, a Class X student of B K Mission School, Midpu, Doimukh, delivered a speech on the significance of Teachers’ Day and the role of teachers in bringing about positive change in the lives of students.
The teachers who were honoured included Jomya Loya (GHSS Balijan), Tam Tapa (GHSS Sagalee), Churchill Tana Tara (GHSS Kimin), Bai Bengia (PM SHRI GHSS Doimukh), Nabam Kamen (PM SHRI GHSS Doimukh), Ramesh Gollo (GHSS Balijan), Sudhir Kr Singh (GSS Mengio), Nabam Nacho (GSS Nimté), Tame Negi (GUPS PTC Banderdewa), Tame Taram (GUPS Hawa Camp), Narayan Teron (GPS Chakma-I, Balijan), Tarh Noma (GSS Mengio), Taw Taram (PM SHRI GRS Nakar), Tana Tani (GSS Toru), Tame Robinson (GPS Lichi), and Nyarum Sonari Tacho (GUPS Emchi).
