KHONSA, Sep 6: The district-level essay competition, organized by the Tirap District Unit of the Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) as part of its ‘Pre-Teachers’ Day Celebration 2026’ concluded with a felicitation ceremony at Kamlesh Joshi Hal here.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, ADC Khonsa Namneet Singh applauded the organizing committee for successful conduct of the competition. He encouraged the winners and students at large to strive for holistic development by actively participating in extra-curricular activities, including literary, sporting and cultural pursuits.
Recalling the exemplary life and contributions of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who rose from the humble profession of teaching to become the President of India, Singh urged teachers to emulate the ideals and footprints of the great teacher-philosopher. He further called upon society to recognize and honour the silent sacrifices and invaluable services rendered by dedicated teachers, whom he described as the true driving force behind every successful individual.
In her address, DDSE Tirap K C Lowangcha urged the teaching fraternity to inculcate a strong sense of sacrifice, commitment and dedication in the discharge of their duties. She called upon teachers to embrace their assigned responsibilities wholeheartedly, irrespective of the nature or location of their postings, and encouraged them to go beyond their comfort zones in pursuit of the noble profession of teaching.
Nokdon Chimyang, Principal PM SHRI GHSS Khonsa, and Chow T Moungkang, Principal GHSS Khonsa, also attended the programme.
Earlier, in his welcome address, general secretary Sanwang Hosai stated that through such initiatives, ATA Tirap seeks to uphold the vibrant spirit of the teaching community, provide teachers with opportunities for healthy societal interaction beyond the classroom, strengthen teacher-student bonding, and nurture holistic growth among young minds through creative and reflective activities.
The competition witnessed an overwhelming response, with 368 students participating in the highly competitive contest. The winners emerged after a closely fought race, demonstrating commendable literary talent, creativity and reflective thinking.
The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
In senior category, Nagi Agi, Class XII (Humanities), PM SHRI GHSS Khonsa, was ranked first and received Rs 6000, while his classmate Chajam Tesia won second prize (Rs 4000), and Sumcha Socia (XII Sc) of same school got third prize (Rs 2500).
Junior category saw Chapam Bangyang (Class VIII, RKSM Khonsa) win the first prize (Rs 6000), her classmate Reyina Pertin got second (Rs 4000), and Rudradeep Choudhury (Class VI, GHSS Deomali) secured third spot (Rs 2500). (DIPRO)
