ITANAGAR, Sep 6: Aimed at spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS and mental health, the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Cell of Don Bosco College, Itanagar in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun, under the aegis of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, conducted a 5-km marathon ‘Red Run’, at the DBC premises here.
The 5-km Red Run is being conducted as a competitive event to encourage young people to participate actively in health-awareness initiatives while promoting physical fitness, discipline and a healthy lifestyle.
The Red Run is more than just a marathon; it is an effort to use sports and youth participation as a medium for spreading health awareness and encouraging open discussion on important public health issues.
Further, Dr Ravi Mihu, Coordinator of Red Ribbon Club, spoke about the importance of spreading awareness about HIV-AIDS and mental health issues among the youth.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various semesters. Chamu Kamchung (BA V Semester) won the top honour in the boys’ category, while Kensinam Gao (BPES 3rd Semester) took the title in the girls’ category.
In the closely contested race, Roshan Chokar (BPES 3rd Sem) claimed the second position in the boys’ section, while Yarisa Batak (BCom 3rd Sem) clinched the second position in the girls’ category.
Samsom Mossang (PO), representing the NSS Cell, felicitated the winners and participants of the marathon.
