ITANAGAR, Sep 7: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan will arrive here on Tuesday evening for a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh, during which he will attend a special session of the assembly, officials said.
Radhakrishnan is on a four-day tour of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, which kicked off on Sunday.
The Vice President will arrive in Itanagar from Manipur’s Imphal on Tuesday evening and attend a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly the next day, officials said.
He will also visit the Assembly gallery-cum-museum.
Radhakrishnan’s itinerary also includes visits to Nyedar Namlo (Prayer Hall), the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum and the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired in Itanagar, they said.
He is also likely to interact with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and senior government officials during his stay.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across the state capital ahead of the Vice President’s arrival.
Itanagar Capital Region SP Jummar Basar said security personnel have been deployed at strategic locations, and that officials were conducting night patrols throughout the capital city for the past few days.
The Papum Pare administration has declared the entire district a ‘No Fly Zone’ and prohibited the flying of drones, UAVs, balloons and other aerial devices on September 8-9 in view of Radhakrishnan’s visit.
The district administration warned that any unauthorised flying of drones or similar devices would be treated as a violation of the order, and strict action would be taken under relevant provisions of law. (PTI)
