GANDHINAGAR, Sep 10: The nine-member media delegation from Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday explored Gujarat’s advancements in forensic science, futuristic urban infrastructure and wildlife conservation as part of its ongoing press tour, besides experiencing the State’s vibrant cultural traditions.
The delegation first visited the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, where the journalists were briefed on the application of modern forensic science in crime investigation, including digital forensics and DNA profiling, and the growing role of technology in addressing emerging forms of crime.
Officials at NFSU explained the growing importance of scientific investigation in tackling cybercrime, digital fraud and other emerging forms of crime.
The delegation also interacted with NFSU Vice-Chancellor Dr JM Vyas, who stressed the need for strengthening forensic infrastructure and developing trained manpower to respond to new challenges in law enforcement.
A significant part of the visit was an interaction with 25 lab assistants from Arunachal Pradesh who recently completed their training at NFSU and will be serving as Crime Scene Officers back in Arunachal Pradesh. The interaction highlighted the importance of strengthening scientific crime-scene investigation and professional capacity among personnel in the State.
The delegation thereafter visited Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), gaining an insight into its futuristic approach to urban planning and infrastructure. The journalists were briefed on the concept of a vertical city and its integrated systems, including underground utilities, centralised cooling, security infrastructure and modern maintenance mechanisms.
The visit also prompted discussions on how innovative urban-planning models could be adapted to meet the developmental needs of Arunachal Pradesh, taking into account its challenging terrain and distinctive geographical conditions.
The journalists subsequently gained firsthand exposure to wildlife conservation initiatives, familiarising themselves with measures undertaken for the protection and rehabilitation of wildlife and the preservation of biodiversity.
The day's programme concluded with a cultural exchange featuring Garba, Gujarat's popular traditional dance. The Arunachal delegation joined the festivities enthusiastically, following Garba steps led by Gujarat Gaurav Award recipient Bhavin Patel and members of Panghat Kala Kendra.
The cultural programme added a traditional dimension to the exposure visit and strengthened the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh.
The third day of the tour offered the delegation a broad perspective on Gujarat's development journey, from scientific innovation and technology-driven urbanisation to environmental conservation and cultural heritage.
