ITANAGAR, Sep 10: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR), while taking suo-motu cognizance of fresh videos circulating on social media, allegedly showing Biri Tara assaulting a minor girl and a minor boy, called for a comprehensive probe into the allegations.
The Commission had earlier taken cognizance of a video involving the alleged abuse of a minor by the accused.
While appreciating the prompt action of the ICR SP and his team in registering a case and arresting the accused, the Commission sought a comprehensive investigation into the fresh allegations.
The APSCPCR urged the SP to identify and book all persons found involved and immediately rescue and ensure the safety and protection of the two children featured in the videos.
The Commission termed the alleged acts serious violations of child and human rights, and called for completion of the investigation within the stipulated period to facilitate an early trial. It also sought stringent punishment in accordance with law if the accused is found guilty.
The APSCPCR has, meanwhile, appealed to the public not to circulate, forward or reproduce the videos and photographs showing the children, warning that such actions could further compromise their privacy, dignity and safety.
Expressing concern over the alleged employment of children as domestic help, the Commission said poverty and vulnerability should never be exploited to deprive children of education, dignity and protection. It also cautioned against bringing children from poor and vulnerable families to the State in the name of education or a better life, only for them to be subjected to labour or exploitation.
