ITANAGAR, Sep 14: In a commendable feat, Arunachal Pradesh’s Biri Takar fetched for country a bronze medal at the Japan Para Badminton International 2026 – Level II, held in Tokyo, Japan from September 8 to 13.
The tournament was conducted under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), the apex governing body for badminton in India, recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, and the Indian Olympic Association.
The Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA), while extending its heartiest congratulations to Takar for bringing laurels to the State and the country, said: he demonstrated outstanding determination, skill, and competitive spirit at the international tournament. “His bronze-medal performance is a proud achievement for Arunachal Pradesh and the nation,” it said.
The PAA also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs (GoAP), for its continued support, encouragement, and commitment towards the development of para sports and para athletes in the State.
PAA secretary general Techi Sonu, describing Takar’s achievement as an inspiration for aspiring para athletes across the State, said it demonstrates that with proper opportunities, support, training, and determination, our athletes can excel on the international stage.
Further, the PAA wished Takar continued success in his future international endeavours.
