ITANAGAR, Sep 14: The Hindi Fortnight celebrations 2026 commenced at the North-East Frontier Headquarters of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) here on Monday, with an emphasis on promoting the use of Hindi in official work and strengthening the implementation of the Government’s Official Language Policy.
The fortnight-long programme was inaugurated under the leadership of Amitabh Gupta, Inspector General, North-East Frontier, ITBP, in the presence of senior officers and Himveers.
Addressing the gathering, DIG (P&A) Achal Sharma said the foundation of the Official Language Policy rests on motivation, encouragement, linguistic harmony and training. He noted that ITBP personnel are drawn from different parts of the country and stressed the importance of respecting all mother tongues while promoting Hindi for official functioning.
Sharma said such programmes help create a conducive atmosphere for the voluntary use of Hindi in day-to-day official work and encouraged all personnel to participate actively in the celebrations.
The Hindi Fortnight is being observed from September 14 to 29 and will feature various activities, including seven competitions, Hindi workshops and seminars. Personnel were encouraged to participate in large numbers and make greater use of Hindi in their routine official communication.
The celebrations aim to promote linguistic harmony and encourage the effective and voluntary implementation of the Official Language Policy within the force.
