ITANAGAR, Sep 15: The Kra-Daadi District Congress Committee (DCC) and the 20th Tali Block Congress Committee (BCC) have demanded a fresh hearing of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the 20th Tali (ST) Assembly Constituency, alleging discrepancies in the scrutiny process at five polling stations.
Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, DCC secretary Giah Limpeah alleged that irregularities had been detected at polling stations 16-Nyobia, 17-Lukbia, 18-Zara, 21-Gyapin and 22-Tedung.
Limpeah claimed that the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) had not conducted the hearing process properly, allegedly resulting in the inclusion of ineligible voters in the electoral rolls.
He further claimed that, according to the committees’ assessment, around 150 suspected ineligible or fake entries had been identified during the latest hearing process at the five polling stations.
Expressing concern over alleged duplicate entries, ineligible voters and other discrepancies, Limpeah said the matter required thorough examination to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral rolls.
He urged the authorities to conduct a fresh hearing at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Palin.
Limpeah informed that the DCC and BCC had submitted a representation to the Chief Election Commissioner, with a copy forwarded to the concerned ERO, seeking appropriate action.
He also urged the authorities to examine all claims and objections in accordance with the applicable provisions and procedures governing the SIR of electoral rolls.
The Congress bodies further appealed to the government to initiate strict action against officials found responsible for any irregularities.
