ZIRO, Sep 14: The momentum following the inauguration of CharungPiimiiLanii, the new home of the Apatani Nyibu Association (ANA), continues to make ripples across the Ziro valley. Building on the energy of the opening ceremony, local leaders and residents are celebrating what many consider a crucial turning point for the region’s living heritage.
The official function was led by local MLA Hage Appa, who joined community elders and key administrators to mark this new chapter.
The gathering highlighted a deep alignment between local leadership and the custodians of traditional culture.
Speaking alongside Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme, ANA president Hage Tasser and general secretary Pura Pai, and MLA Appa reflected on how essential indigenous institutions are to the region's social fabric.
At its core, the Nyibu institution has always been the heartbeat of Apatani life—carrying forward centuries of oral history, sacred chants, ancestral rituals, and spiritual wisdom. Leaders at the event stressed that CharungPiimiiLanii is far more than just bricks and mortar; it offers a dedicated sanctuary where these living traditions can be actively practised, documented, and protected against the fast pace of modern change.
