RONO HILLS, Sep 16: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Rajiv Gandhi University organized an Orientation Programme for Departmental NAAC Coordinators and Departmental Staff at the Smart Theatre, Dept of Computer Science, RGU today.
The programme, which aimed to strengthen the quality assurance mechanism of the University and sensitize the departmental coordinators and staff to various aspects of NAAC accreditation, NEP 2020, documentation and quality enhancement, saw attendance of 104 participants from various departments and branches of the university.
Prof Utpal Bhattacharjee, Director IQAC (RGU), in his welcome address, emphasized that coordinated efforts at the departmental level are essential for strengthening the University’s internal quality assurance system, systematic documentation, data management and preparedness for the assessment and accreditation process.
He also stressed the importance of active participation of Departmental NAAC Coordinators and staff in various quality enhancement activities of the University.
During Technical Session I on ‘NAAC Accreditation’, Dr Rajesh Chakrabarty, Associate Professor (RGU), explained various necessary steps to be undertaken by the IQAC and departments for improving the overall quality of the University. He further emphasized the importance of systematic data collection, proper documentation, evidence-based quality initiatives and continuous improvement.
The Technical Session II on ‘National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’ was conducted by Dr Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Asstt Professor, Department of Social Sciences, RGU. He provided an overview of 18 key points of NEP 2020 and explained their relevance to higher education institutions.
He also elaborated on the coding system for curricula and emphasized the importance of systematic curriculum development and documentation. Particular attention was given to the mapping of Course Outcomes with Learning Outcomes, highlighting its significance in ensuring outcome-based education and effective academic planning.
