MALIGAON, Sep 20: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to operate four pairs of festival special trains to facilitate the smooth and convenient travel of passengers during the forthcoming Puja, Diwali and Chhath festival season.
Among these special trains, Train No 05742/05741 (New Jalpaiguri – Gomti Nagar – New Jalpaiguri) will run from 4th October to 30th November, 2026, with nine trips in both directions. Train No 07555/07554 (Katihar – Purnia – Katihar) will run daily from 1st October to 30th November, 2026, with 61 trips in both directions. Train No 07540/07539 (Katihar – Manihari – Katihar) will run from 2nd October to 30th November, 2026, with 43 trips in both directions, while Train No 07544/07543 (Katihar – Manihari – Katihar) will run from 1st October to 1st December, 2026, with 18 trips in both directions.
Accordingly, Train No 05742 (New Jalpaiguri – Gomti Nagar) special will depart from New Jalpaiguri every Sunday at 08:30 hours to reach Gomti Nagar at 09:10 hours on Monday. In the return direction, Train No 05741 (Gomti Nagar – New Jalpaiguri) special will depart from Gomti Nagar every Monday at 12:20 hours to reach New Jalpaiguri at 15:00 hours on Tuesday. The train will have stoppages at important stations including Siliguri Jn, Thakurganj, Araria Court, Purnia, Katihar, Mansi, Khagaria, Samastipur, Hajipur, Chhapra and Gorakhpur, among others.
Train No 07555 (Katihar – Purnia) special will depart from Katihar daily at 21:30 hours to reach Purnia at 22:40 hours. In the return direction, Train No 07554 (Purnia– Katihar) special will depart from Purnia at 23:40 hours to reach Katihar at 02:00 hours. The train will have stoppages at Dalan, Rautara and Ranipatra.
Train No 07540 (Katihar – Manihari) special will depart from Katihar at 19:00 hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, reaching Manihari at 20:00 hours. In the return direction, Train No 07539 (Manihari – Katihar) special will depart from Manihari at 03:15 hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, reaching Katihar at 04:15 hours. The train will have stoppages at Mansahi and Mahiyarpur.
Further, Train No 07544 (Katihar – Manihari) special will depart from Katihar at 20:30 hours on Mondays and Thursdays, reaching Manihari at 21:30 hours. In the return direction, Train No 07543 (Manihari – Katihar) special will depart from Manihari at 05:00 hours on Tuesdays and Fridays, reaching Katihar at 06:00 hours. The train will have stoppages at Mansahi and Mahiyarpur.
